Fairfield Children's Home & Hartzell School at Old Mutare Mission, Zimbabwe
Every child is a miracle, no matter where he or she is born. As we care for the children, youth and families who are our neighbors in South Carolina, Epworth also strives to lift up the children of our global neighbors as well. A missional tithe of the campaign will be used to support the work of our sister United Methodist institution, Fairfield Children's Home and Hartzell School, in Old Mutare Mission, Zimbabwe, adjacent to Africa University. This global mission outreach will help children who have been orphaned by AIDS, provide education and career training for teens and more.
Global Child Wellbeing Goal: $1,000,000
Fairfield Children's Home & Hartzell School serve the children of Zimbabwe, just as Epworth serves the children in South Carolina.
Improving the lives of children around the world.
Whether in our back yards or across the globe, all human life has equal value and EVERY child is a miracle. Epworth believes in serving not only the children and families of South Carolina, but also those outside its geographic reach as part of its ongoing work with mission and outreach.
Just as Epworth serves the needs of children and families in South Carolina, Fairfield Children’s Home and Hartzell School, provides for the needs of orphaned children in the area surrounding the Old Mutare Mission and Africa University in Zimbabwe. The Every Child Is A Miracle campaign is excited to include this component as a way to fulfill our mission of outreach and to take care of children in need, regardless of their country of birth.
Located near the campus of Africa University, Fairfield Children’s Home and Hartzell School is well known to the South Carolina Methodist Conference. Members of the Conference and of Epworth Children’s Home have taken part in mission trips to Zimbabwe and have seen the needs of this organization and the children and families they serve. With the confidence that the Methodist Conference and Epworth have a strong relationship with Fairfield Children’s Home, you can be assured that any donations to this organization will be used for the most urgent, immediate needs as identified by South Carolina United Methodist Conference’s sister conference in Zimbabwe.
Funds raised for global child welfare will benefit such programs and projects as:
Expand agricultural programming to provide food for the children and income through selling.
Provide clean water flowing into homes 24 hours a day; currently Fairfield only has water 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening.
Prepare hostel accommodation for children over 18 years still in need of care; this will allow them to complete skills training.
Place first generation college graduates into employment and career paths.
